SmilingMonk.com is open for business

Welcome to SmilingMonk.com, we are finally open for business. It's been a lot of work for us, we hope it shows, and we hope you enjoy the site. SmilingMonk was created to help you learn about the world around you as well as share your knowledge in a user friendly format: video.
We're small so please be patient. We know there aren't thousands of videos up yet. Hopefully that will change. You can help by taking the time to share high quality video content in the form of how-to and do-it-yourself videos. And we'd like to challenge you--take the time and effort to create a video that does the service of teaching. This is your chance to be the star of your own show and have your expertise seen by the masses. Take the time to edit your video, to explain the subtleties. Enjoy it. Be funny.
We can't compete with YouTube or Yahoo! Video, we don't have the resources, the money, or the personnel. But we can offer you personal service, a bit of humor, and the chance to get in on the ground floor and help create something we think will be great. As the company grows, we hope to add more features and applications to supplement the video experience and to help provide fuller and more robust ways for users to transfer their knowledge between each other.
Please respect our company's purpose and mission. Anyone could, if they wanted to, create a nonsensical video and upload it and we'd probably be none the wiser for some time. Sure it's fun to look around at the silly videos people upload on sites like YouTube, but that's not the purpose of this site.
Since we are new, we're still trying to iron out some of the kinks. If you have questions about the site, have problems uploading videos or otherwise using the site, or have any suggestions for ways to improve SmilingMonk, we'd love to hear about it. We really would. You can e-mail us at whatthe@smilingmonk.com.
